Waterfront Quarter

Sellers Engineers Ltd has a developer on board for its proposed 48,000 sq ft factory at Trident Business Park, Deighton, Huddersfield.

Sellers Engineers, which has 75 employees, is moving from Chapel Hill – its home for 98 years – to make way for the £150m Waterfront Quarter development. That scheme includes a £75m campus for Kirklees College along with offices, apartments and leisure facilities.

Leeds-based Landmark Development Projects has secured a deal to develop the new factory on the 27-acre business park at Leeds Road. Property consultancy Dove Haigh Phillips acted for Sellers in securing the 15-year lease for Sellers who are a world leader in the design and manufacture of finishing machines for the carpet industry. The company also has premises in Dalton, Georgia, covering the USA, Canada and South America.

Work has now started on site and will be complete in January 2011. Sellers plans to occupy the factory fully in March next year after fitting-out has been completed. Sellers chairman, David Armitage said: “Our new purpose-built facility will enable us to operate more efficiently and reduce costs. The new facility will make a positive statement about manufacturing in Huddersfield.”

Mike Dove, partner at Dove Haigh Phillips, said: “Trident Business Park presented the ideal new location for Sellers due to its excellent reputation, high-profile occupiers and pivotal location on Leeds Road. We worked closely with all parts to negotiate the 15-year lease for Sellers, which will enable them to create a future-proof facility for their operations.”
